Genesee Health System connects parents to resources with new support group
GENESEE COUNTY, MI — Genesee Health System (GHS) will host upcoming parent support groups for parents to learn from shared experiences, whether parenting children with special needs, mental health issues, or general parenting challenges. Multiple dates are available: Tuesday, May 27, Tuesday, June 3, or Wednesday, June 25, all from 6 to 7 p.m., at the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library, Harris Room.
This outreach to parents is part of the GHS K-12 Initiative’s new Parent2Parent Support Group, providing a safe and confidential space for parents and caregivers to connect, share, and empower one another to thrive throughout the journey of parenting.
“We recognize the importance of having a supportive community that offers unique experiences, wisdom, and encouragement that enriches the parenting journey,” said Carrie Chanter, GHS Director of Prevention, Health & Wellness. “Support groups are our way of filling a much needed resource gap.”
During the Parent2Parent Support Groups, attendees will have the opportunity to:
· Connect with other parents/caregivers
· Gain practical tips and strategies for effective parenting
· Learn about local resources, events, and activities throughout Flint
· Be a part of a caring & supportive community
