Consumer Council

The Consumer Council is an advisory committee to Genesee Health System (GHS).

Our Consumer Council:

  • Is made up of individuals who receive services through the GHS network of providers. 50% of the membership must be individuals who directly receive services through the GHS provider network, including substance use disorder services.
  • Also includes family members of service recipients, community advocacy groups, other community representatives, and a member of the GHS Board of Directors.

The Consumer Council organizes advisory groups, ad hoc committees, and workgroups with the goal of reviewing and providing feedback regarding GHS programs, policies, and procedures.

Throughout the year the Consumer Council sponsors activities such as the annual GHS Art Contest and the Walk-A-Mile in My Shoes rally in Lansing.

A prerequisite for becoming a member of the GHS Consumer Council is successful completion of the Consumer Recruitment course offered through Customer Services.
