Genesee Health System Behavioral Health Urgent Care Extends Hours

GENESEE COUNTY, MI – Starting Saturday, February 4, 2023, the Genesee Health System Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) will start weekend in-person services with extended open hours from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The BHUC currently offers both walk-in and virtual urgent care sessions for those who need to talk and figure out what to do next, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The virtual urgent care services are offered via video chat with a licensed mental health professional 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.

“The BHUC opened in 2021 and we began to quickly realize that the community needed greater access to face-to-face urgent mental health services,” said Jennifer McCarty, GHS Chief Operations Officer. “While we continue to offer virtual services 24/7, expanded walk-in hours give
people in Genesee County more options to see a therapist immediately. It is same-day mental health over the weekend.”

Behavioral health urgent care centers are a way to provide communities with an option to stabilize individuals that may be experiencing a behavioral health crisis. These centers are a way to reduce emergency room visits, hospitalizations, and possible incarcerations.

The GHS Behavioral Health Urgent Care services are free, whether insured or uninsured, and located at 422 W. 4th Avenue in Flint. Learn more about the GHS crisis and access services at www.genhs.org/HelpNow and Genesee Health System at www.genhs.org.
Genesee Health System provides services and support for individuals in Genesee County with
