Attendees will learn ways to identify various forms of trauma (in the Black male) and then find resources to manage those emotions and communicate effectively with those who are a part of their life.
Jason Wilson is a best-selling author and founder of the Yunion, a Detroit-based non-profit dedicated to youth development. In 2008, he established the Cave of Adullam Transformational Training Academy (CATTA), renowned for its Emotional Stability Training® for African American boys. Jason's work gained international recognition in 2016, leading to a documentary produced by Laurence Fishburne's company, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2022. With over 25 years of martial arts experience and 16 years dedicated to training young black males, Jason is a devoted husband and father. His journey exemplifies the power of compassion, resilience, and commitment to empowering boys and men. Flint, Michigan, like many other communities that have a large percentage of people of color, has experienced a significant increase in gun violence that has resulted in death for many of our black men (young and old). This event will provide those in attendance with information on the how to identify and effectively address emotional trauma that begins first, within themselves and is seen within the home in the form of violence, miscommunication and a breakdown or break-up of the family. Those attending will learn ways to identify various forms of trauma (in the Black male) and then find resources to manage those emotions and communicate effectively with those who are a part of their life.
